Tear a map and you tear a million hearts

Uttoradhikaar, takes us to Goa in the late 1950s - a time of political uncertainty as Indian forces encircle the small former Portuguese colony. Debasish Banerjee brings to the stage a fresh story and once again asks the audience meaningful questions about our heritage and roots. The actors dramatise a new dimension as we delve deeper into human personality and bring abstract ideas to life with a combination of technical achievement and innovative production design.

Mook - The Unspoken

Eastern Thespians’ 2nd production - 2013

Written and directed by Debasish Banerjee

Venue: Brady Art Centre, London

‘Mook’, our second production brings to the stage a new and original work by Debasish Banerjee. Building on the dramatic and technical elements from our first production, Mook (Bengali: "unspoken") tells the story of a journalist's search for the truth behind an old murder presented on the political chessboard of a small district town. Once again we create the realism of this story using experienced acting talents and audio visual elements. We hope you join on this ongoing journey into theatre and human characteristics.

Artho - The Meaning of Wealth

Eastern Thespians’ 1st production - 2012 - 2013

Written and directed by Debasish Banerjee

Venue: Brady Art Centre, Chelsea Theatre, Nehru Centre London

‘Artho’, our first production is a contemporary play that, through the dynamics of a family milieu, endeavours to understand the place and importance of wealth in our lives. Relying on naturalistic performance and using minimalist set design with screen projection and music, our effort in this production has been to present a theatrical experience that we hope will sharpen into focus a question that is so pertinent today – what is the meaning of wealth?
